"I am very much impressed by the work of the international community and about everything which has been done for the people in this region in a short time“, said Mr Löning after his talks with refugees and volunteers. He was accompanied by Mr Oliver Owzca from the Foreign Office, Mr Michael Biontino, the standing representative of the German Embassy in Ethiopia, and Ms Susanne Butscher (UNHCR).
On behalf of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), THW repairs vehicles, generators and water pumps of international relief organisations in a garage in Dolo Ado. Furthermore, the THW staff supports the UNHCR in planning a new logistics centre. The Federal Agency will accompany the building measures.
In the refugee camps, THW volunteers install water tanks and distribution systems and repair faulty pipes. They also contribute to the building and planning of latrines and sanitation facilities. Furthermore, THW participates in the maintenance of the waterworks in Dolo Ado.
