Exercises

With the help of flood protection walls, city centres are quickly and efffectively protected.

Preparation is everything, because accidents and catastrophes can neither be predicted nor planned. Therefore, it is important to be well trained and ready any time. In hundreds of thousands of exercise hours per year the volunteers of THW get up to speed for an operation. Because everything has to run like clockwork then.

International High Capacity Pumping exercise

In the Bavarian district of Passau, Germany, the THW hosted an exercise with heavy-duty pumps which started on September 24. It continued until September 27 and involved about 60 civil protection operatives from the countries of the Western Balkans, Turkey and Tunisia as well as THW High Capacity Pumping (HCP) units from Germany.
During the two-week course, the Jordanian participants used technical equipment such as an angle grinder to work with stone.

It is all about ‘How’

How can I teach technical topics in an understandable, interesting and expert way? This was the core question of the “Train the Trainers” course that took place at the THW training site in Wesel over the past two weeks. Fourteen trainers from the General Directorate of Jordan Civil Defence (JCD) took part, with THW specialists showing them how they can train JCD volunteers back in Jordan.
