In Action
Every day, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief is active in Germany and across the world. Altogether, the voluntary experts commit more than one million hours per year to civil protection. On the following pages, you can find information about the activities of THW.

Neuhausen. It was one of the largest international disaster relief exercises: from October 15 to 21, the first joint exercise was held for international expert teams from the Logistics and Emergency Telecommunications clusters of the UN World Food Programme. The LRT/OpEx Bravo exercise was hosted by the THW on the site of its National Training Center in Neuhausen.

Bonn. Today sees the first-ever civil defense volunteers being trained in Amman (Jordan) for possible missions in the wake of natural disasters. Volunteer trainers from the Technische Hilfswerk (THW) and a project team with full-time THW staff are acting as mentors to provide support for their Jordanian colleagues.

This Monday evening, the German federal government deployed a crisis support team to the USA to provide assistance to the German and European citizens affected by Hurricane Irma in Florida. Its members include ten THW operatives, both full-time staff and volunteers.
Missions
As a partner in civil protection in Germany, THW assists people after catastrophes and accidents. The Federal Agency performs its legal mission not only in Germany but also during operations across the world in more than 100 countries now.
